Pushpanjali Trust is a charitable Trust registered under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act. We are a rights based voluntary organisation working in the areas of mental health and disability. We believe that people with mental health challenges have the ‘right’ and the ‘abilities’ to lead independent, fulfilling lives within their communities.

We endeavour to develop and promote a person-centered approach to mental well-being through close collaboration with mental health professionals, persons with mental disabilities and their families. We know from experience that when people receive support to lead their own recovery, the outcomes can be very empowering for the individuals and their families.

Vision

A just and inclusive society where persons with mental disabilities are cared for, and have opportunities for personal growth and fulfilment

Community Activities

Psychosocial Counselling: In tough times it’s important to be heard. We support persons with mental illness and also talk to family members about their concerns. We then form an individual need based plan to support them.

Peer Support Network: We believe you don’t have to go through it alone. Mental health issues affect many of us and it helps to get connected. We help you form a peer support network as part of your recovery journey. This way you learn from others and find hope to get through this. Both online and physical meetings are conducted as per the need.

Caregivers Support Group: Caregivers faces a lot issues while giving best care to their dear ones and forget to think about themselves. Caregivers burden, depression, anxiety, loneliness, crying spells are most common issues faced by them. Webinars and individual sessions are held to deal with issues. Our aim to make them enable to get their rights as well as to help them to cope with their psychosocial issues.

Community Outreach Programme: We use a tailored method in which we visit families and encourage persons with mental illness to further develop their own personal resources, friendships and supports to overcome barriers they’re experiencing. We organise social activities on weekly basis.

Campaign for the Right to Community Living: We are assisting citizens in and around Chandigarh to get their constitutional right of community living for persons with mental disabilities. We had successfully held this campaign in Tricity Chandigarh. We are also requesting Punjab and Haryana governments to provide this right to large number of persons with mental disabilities.
